Legia Warsaw 5-1 Widzew Łódź

In the first match of the new season 2013/2014 Legia’s players outclassed 5-1 Widzew’s team. Although Jan Urban decided to make some important changes before the second leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League and he let reserve footballers play in the game, it seems that it was a reasonable way of thinking. Young Legia’s players wanted to show their potential and they really managed to do it.

The first goal was scored in the third minute by Miroslav Radović. Five minutes before the end of the first half Jakub Rzeźniczak (incidentally Widzew’s foster-son) defeated Maciej Mielcarz and Legia was leading 2-0.
Michał Kucharczyk, who had difficulties with showing his proper football skills last season, seems to have the problems behind him. After the break, within five minutes he was able to strike two goals for his team!
In the 60th minute Widzew’s Łukasz Staroń scored a face-saving goal for his club.
The last goal for Legia was struck a few minutes before the end of the game by Patryk Mikita, who… debuted in Warsaw team.
