Eight Legia`s players fight for their contracts
"Contracts of eight Legia's footballers expire in June 2010. This means that Legia's board members have only three months to decide about their future, because all those players will be able to sign contracts with other clubs since the 1st January" – we could read in "Przegląd Sportowy".
Toulouse Football Club and Girondins Bordeaux were interested in Jan Mucha in the summer break, but Warsaw team wanted 2 million euro for its player. Recently, Panathinaikos and Olympiacos Piraeus were interested in Legia's goalkeeper, but the board decided to withhold until the winter break.
There were some negotiations, but without any particular details. "We will start negotiations after my preliminary matches to World Cup 2010 in South Africa" – said Mucha.
Warsaw club shouldn't have any problems with extending Sebastian Szałachowski's contract who is fully recovering after an injury. Nevertheless, Tomasz Kiełbowicz and Wojciech Szala may be afraid of their future.
"As yet, we didn't speak with members of the board about our contracts, but there's no need to hurry" – said Kiełbowicz. "No one spoke to me, too" – added Szala.
Bartłomiej Grzelak and Marcin Smoliński have their last chance to prove the board that they're needed in the team.
"As yet, I don't think about it. At first, I have to start playing. Then, what will be, will be" – said Grzelak.
"If I don't fight out the place in the first team, I will leave the club" – stated Smoliński.
Future of Marcin Mięciel and Tomasz Jarzębowski depends generally on themselves. Everything due to clauses in their contracts. Those will be extended for the next year only if the footballers appear in matches. In case of "Jarza" this is 900 minutes in the season. However, he didn't appear in any game this season, as yet.
