Champions League: Celtic Football Club 0-2 Legia

In the second leg of the third qualifying round (UEFA Champions League) Legia Warsaw defeated 2-0 Celtic Glasgow in Edinburgh on Wednesday evening. Totally, the club from the capital of Poland won 6-1 on aggregate. In the first leg Legia outclassed 4-1 Celtic in Warsaw.

Although these were Celtic’s footballers who were prevailing during first several minutes on the field no one was able to notice their definite determination. Later on, the boot is on the other foot and Legia controlled the play course. In the 36th minute the team from Warsaw carried out a counterattack. Michał Żyro received the ball from Ivica Vrdoljak and sent the ball straight to the goal of the helpless Celtic’s goalkeeper. The first half finished with Legia’s 1-0 leading.

After the break the Scottish team was trying to attack Legia’s goal but it didn’t make it. When Warsaw club struck the second goal (Michał Kucharczyk outplayed Fraser Forster in the 61st minute of the match), everybody knew it was a game over for Celtic.
The result didn’t change and eventually Legia won 2-0. Warsaw team qualified to the fourth qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. Celtic Glasgow still has a chance to play in the European games. After its loss against Legia Warsaw the club from Scotland will be playing in the fourth qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
