Legia Warsaw 1-1 Górnik Zabrze

In the third game of the season 2014/2015 Legia’s players only drew 1-1 with Górnik’s footballers at Łazienkowska on Saturday evening. This means that Polish champions of the previous season weren’t able to win the second league match at their own stadium.
Warsaw team’s coach Henning Berg decided to give most players who played against Celtic Football Club on Wednesday a rest. Fortunately, replacements performed much better than in the game against GKS Bełchatów two weeks ago. Although they were losing because of Igor Lewczuk’s unlucky own goal, they didn’t play badly and managed to equalise thanks to Marek Saganowski’s shot. Moreover, they were really close to win the match. Unfortunately, due to some lack of effectiveness and finally also strength, the game finished with a 1-1 draw.
It’s worth mentioning that supporters as well as footballers and Legia’s board honoured insurgents who fought for freedom in Warsaw Uprising seventy years ago. Fans prepared a special pyrotechnics show in the form of an anchor which was a World War II emblem of the Polish Secret State and Armia Krajowa (Home Army, or AK).

We encourage you to see 80 photographs from the match taken by Mishka.
